thunder moon

Driving back from the Zen Center last night with a nearly full moon rising over the Green Mountains to the east. I looked for Venus and Jupiter in the western sky, and they were nowhere to be seen. They have both been prominent in the evening for months now. It will probably be a long time before they return. The full moon, the "Thunder" moon is tonight.

dark green

common nightshade

Scarlet sunlight streaming in the windows this morning. Supposed to be another hot one. Turning on the fan in the kitchen for the first time this year. Green Mountains showing the dark green of summer.

corn guy

Contented cows in the pasture. Granddaughter splashing around in the creek. Corn guy at the usual spot in West Rutland.

family and friends

Back from some time visiting family and friends, so this is what summer is about.

popsicles

blue vervain

Hazy, hot & humid days of summer. Season of ice coffee. Popsicles in the freezer. You don't see that in January. Heading to Martha's Vineyard for the weekend, the most summery place I know.

bounty

birdsfoot trefoil

Driving Route 7, road construction crews are busy during the summer season. Tents outside of houses  for sleeping during the hot weather. Silage equipment and trucks in Vermont pasturelands. They remind me of fishing trawlers, harvesting nature's bounty for the fallow season ahead.

beautiful

Cow vetch, what an unappealing name. It's considered to be a weed. It can be found in every pasture in Vermont at this time of year. Honestly, I didn't realize how beautiful it is until I looked at this photo.

day lilies

Coming back from sesshin to a luminous world. Maybe it's just the day lilies.
